Fact finding committee examine the causes of the post election violence in West Bengal between the 2nd of May and 5th of May, 2021 conclude that there was a complete breakdown of the Rule of Law, acts of violence were targeted, organised and premeditated acts of wanton destruction of people and property.
The report further, criticises the Police for dereliction of duty and the failure to register and investigate crimes. The report recommends the restoration of civil order and restorative justice.
The provision of access to justice is imperative. Justice has to be seen to be done.
